The local offer describes the support that is available for children and young people aged 0-25 years with Special Educational Needs or Disabilities (SEND).

Your SEND Local Offer in Northumberland

We want to make it as easy as possible for you to find the information and support you need. The SEND Local Offer aims to explain and signpost all the services that are available across Northumberland to ensure that you can access the information, guidance and support that you and your family need.

To set the scene, you'll find two videos below which explain what a local offer is.

Entitled 'Your Local Offer Guide' from the Department for Education, the video below aims to give you a starting point in understanding what is meant by a 'local offer' and what you can expect from your local authority.

The Local Offer provides information for children and young people with special educational needs (SEND) and their parents or carers in a single place. It shows families what they can expect from a range of local agencies including education, health and social care.

You can find a list of key documents including Special Education Needs and Disabilities strategy and planning documents below. These include information about how many children and young people with special educational needs and their families we support, services and information on schools, inspection reports and funding.

Our Local Offer website has been planned and produced with parents, carers, services across the local authority and health, schools, colleges and early years settings and voluntary sector colleagues.

We have worked closely with the Northumberland Parent Carer Forum (PCF) to ensure the content on this Local Offer website is useful and accessible to parents and carers.

The PCF works with the local authority, health and social care to improve services for children and young people with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) and their families.
